My Process

Initially, experiments were done with different materials to test their ability to transition from thick to thin. These attempts included stretching rubber, melting wax, and sculpting in plasticine.

Frank Unreal

The project translates the letter forms of  'Frank Riehl,' a classic Hebrew font, into three-dimensional objects. The font is influenced by a calligraphic writing tool, so it has serif letters with variable line thickness.

I examined how distance in space can create different thicknesses as each object appears smaller while being further away.

The new construction of the letters is created from lines that extend deep into space. Depending on the position of the letter within the word, the sculptural elements are composed differently.
